Child Abuse prevention presentations are made to all second grade and fifth grade classes in DeKalb County and Fort Payne City school systems.

Staff from the Children's Advocacy Center go into the classrooms on three consecutive days teaching Life Skills as an approach to child abuse prevention.  The topic on Day One is Conflict Resolution, Day Two is Choices and Consequences, and Day Three is Child Abuse Awareness.  Presenters use scenarios, discussion, videos, and handouts to explain the material.

During the 2009-2010 school year, we had 227 presentations, with 2,422 students. The presentations include children in the second and fifth grades.

This program is funded by Children's Trust Fund of Alabama.
